TALLAHASSEE, Fla.- June 10, 2026 — Leon County Commissioner David O'Keefe announced today that he has earned the endorsement of Equality Florida, the state's largest civil rights organization dedicated to securing full equality for Florida's LGBTQ community.

The person on the left is wearing sunglasses and a black shirt, while the person on the right has a beard, glasses on a cap, and a black T-shirt with campaign-related text. Behind them are various promotional materials, a rainbow pride flag, and a sign supporting a county commissioner election.

Equality Florida works across the state to advance policies that protect LGBTQ Floridians, strengthen public education, promote health equity, defend reproductive freedom, and ensure all Floridians are treated with dignity and respect.

"Thank you for your commitment to our community and your commitment to championing LGBTQ people and our families," said Equality Florida's Candidate Programs Manager Benjamin Stinson-Hurwitz in announcing the endorsement.

"I’m honored that such an important group representing so much of our community stands with me in defending our local values of inclusivity and acknowledging that our strength is in our diversity." said O'Keefe.

Throughout his first term on the County Commission, O'Keefe has advocated for inclusive policies and worked to ensure county government remains accessible and responsive to all residents.

"At a time when our local values of diversity and inclusion are being threatened by state overreach, I remain focused on standing up for what is important to our community," O'Keefe said. "Putting people first means making local government work for everyone."

The endorsement adds to a growing coalition of support behind O'Keefe's reelection campaign, including labor, environmental, and gun safety advocates who have recognized his record of community-focused leadership.

O'Keefe is seeking reelection this year to the Leon County Commission District 5 Seat.
